How to reach Tours :

 

By plane :

The city of Tours possesses a small airport that has only flights to/from a few European and African cities, notably London Stansted (England), Dublin (Ireland), Porto (Portugal) or Marrakech (Marocco). There are also the two international airports located in Paris, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport and Orly airport.

Below are some tips on how to reach Tours if you choose to land in one of these three airports.

A TGV train (a high-speed train) station is located in terminal 2E, inside the airport. There are only direct trains to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (a suburb city of Tours). From the Saint-Pierre-des-Corps train station, you can then book a train for Tours train station (station located in downtown Tours). The journey takes about 2 hours. 

Direct trains to Tours can also be taken from two Central Paris train stations: Paris Montparnasse station or Paris Austerlitz station. To reach these train stations from the airport you can take: the public transportation RER/subway (https://www.ratp.fr/en), book an airport shuttle (https://www.supershuttle.com/locations/paris-bva-ory-cdg/) or taxi/Uber.

From the Orly airport, you can get to Tours by train from the Massy-TGV train station. This station is located 35-40 minutes away by bus (Express 91-10). There are 2 Bus Express 91-10 stops at Orly, one common to the terminals Orly 1-2-3, one at Orly 4. It runs every 30 to 60 minutes. At Massy-TGV train station, there are direct trains to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps or Tours.

You can either take the tram (line A) or the bus to reach the center of the city of Tours. Please, check the schedule as the connection does not run every day.

By train from Paris train stations : 

To book train tickets, here is the official French Railways website (SNCF) which sells tickets for train journeys in France and for international journeys to or from France: https://www.sncf-connect.com/en-en/train-ticket. On this website, you will find the price with no booking fees and a range of seating options. Here are the two train stations from which you can rapidly and easily reach downtown Tours. 

  • From Paris-Montparnasse train station (recommended) : You can take a train to Tours. The journey lasts about 1 hour.
  • From Paris-Austerlitz train station : You can take a train to Tours. The journey lasts about 2 hours.

By bus :

Low cost bus lines run from Paris to Tours bus terminal located in the city center of Tours. You can book tickets from these two companies : Flixbus (www.flixbus.fr ) or OuiBus (www.ouibus.com). It takes between 3-5 hours between the 2 cities and it costs less than 20€. In Tours, all these bus departures and arrivals take place at 168 rue Edouard Vaillant, which is a 5 minute- walking distance from downtown Tours.

How to get to the conference venue (Amphi Thélème Université) :

The first day of the congress (26th of june) will take place at the Palais des Congrès (26 Bd Heurteloup, 37000 Tours), and the following days (from the 27th to the 29th) will take place at the Salle Thélème (3 rue des Tanneurs in Tours)
